Hand crafted in teak wood, this is the authentic Gandhi Charkha Wheel. It includes 3 spindles, cotton drive band and a skeiner. Everything folds up into a case resembling a hardback book. Its uniquely small compact size and the fact it is from India makes it a special wheel. It has a history that helped force change in India during the rule of the British empire. Ideal for spinning short staple fibers such as cotton or lamb's fine wool into fine yarns. Excellent for spinning colored cottons which are short fibered. Also good for silk, angora, cashmere, dog hair, or any fine fiber.

Note: As Charkhas are hand crafted, each spinning wheel will have slight cosmetic differences and may be not have the fine finish as a western made wheel. It is just the nature of the product as made and used in India. However, it is very efficient to use and a great way to spin.
